Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the formation of a new district named Kalyan Singh Nagar to honour the legacy of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh. The new district will be carved out of parts of Aligarh and Bulandshahr, marking an administrative reorganisation aimed at commemorating one of the state’s most influential leaders.
District Named in Honour of Kalyan Singh
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Adityanath during a public address, confirming that the state’s 76th district will bear the name of Kalyan Singh. The decision recognises the late leader’s contribution to Uttar Pradesh’s governance, development, and political evolution. Kalyan Singh, a prominent BJP figure, was known for his strong leadership and his role in shaping modern Uttar Pradesh’s administrative structure.
Proposed Boundaries and Administrative Details
According to official inputs, the proposed district of Kalyan Singh Nagar will comprise the “Atrauli and Gangiri tehsils of Aligarh” and the “Dibai tehsil of Bulandshahr”. These areas are closely associated with Kalyan Singh’s birthplace and political journey. The reorganisation aims to improve administrative efficiency while also paying tribute to the former chief minister’s deep connection with the region.
Initiative Backed by Kalyan Singh’s Family
The proposal gained momentum after “Rajveer Singh”, former MP and son of Kalyan Singh, urged the government to take steps recognising his father’s service to the state. The Chief Minister’s announcement, though yet to be formally presented in the Assembly, is expected to receive swift approval given its symbolic and administrative importance.
